I hate myself. Why, you ask? Because for those of you keeping track, I missed last week’s Friday Social post. It just didn’t happen. Nevermind that the posting before that was not very informative.
I’m going to have to admit it: my day job has got me slacking on the blog. As much as I’d love to drown in self-pity, I know what would make me happiest is just cranking out another post as soon as possible. I’m being beaten once again and choosing to dust myself off as best as possible and keep moving forward.
So, without further ado, ladies and gents, I present to you your Friday Social of the week!
No at the Angelika Film Center
I’m not going to bore you with Chilean politics because I could completely go off on a tangent about how tragic, enraging and inspiring that country’s story is. But as someone who went to Chile for study abroad to study this very subject matter, I have to encourage you to check it out. If you need superficial reasons: 1) Gael Garcia Bernal is in it and he’s super hot 2) the movie is playing at the Angelika Theater which is super cool. This is a theater that attracts people who like to think. It’s right on Houston St at Broadway which is an awesome location to be in general, great for people watching…and meeting! Check out the theater and check out the movie.
The Orchid Show
It’s back for its 11th year at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. I went last year and had a wonderful time. What a great way to escape the gray dreariness of winter that still looms over the city and start to welcome in Spring! This year’s design is also incorporating trees felled by Hurricane Sandy. Something hopeful from something tragic? Go spend time with flowers and get happy.
The Gangs of New York Walking Tour
How cool is this?! I love learning about New York history. This Sunday at 11am for $20 you can discover more about the infamous Five Points neighborhood, now known as the Financial District/Chinatown. Click here for more info.
Have a great weekend!
